Shakeology Cleanse

Friday, December 06, 2013

Ever feel like you need a boost, a kick in the pants?  I do, right now.  I feel like I have stalled in my progress, and I really need to see some results if I don't want to be discouraged.  So what am I going to do?  Well, starting Monday (hubby is going out of town for work), I am going to be doing a three day cleanse.  Not just any cleanse, mind you, but a Shakeology cleanse - which means I will still be getting all of my nutritional needs met.

A Few Facts about the Shakeology Cleanse:
First of all, it's not a true "cleanse."  It's a calorie-restricted and nutrient-dense diet plan that lasts for three days.  Traditional cleanses contain very few calories and nutrients and usually last for 7-21 days or longer.  Usually there are strange drinks made of maple syrup or lemon juice or apple cider vinegar.  Sometimes you're restricted to just broth-based "soups."  The Shakeology cleanse is nothing like that!  On the Shakeology cleanse, you eat frequently and consume between 800 and 1,200 calories per day.  You won't feel like a zombie or like you are starving your body of vital nutrients, because you aren't!  The point of this cleanse is not calorie restriction, per se - it's nutrient efficiency. The aim is to get the most nutrients possible into the fewest number of calories.  This should make you feel lighter and more energetic.  The result is to have your body run more efficiently.  The weight loss is just an added benefit that most people experience (anywhere from 3 to 10 lbs in just 3 days!!).

How to:
Follow the same regimen for three days.  You can spread your meals and snacks out however you want to.  For example, if it's easier to eat a salad for lunch instead of dinner, do it!  Just don't deviate from the plan as a whole.  And most importantly, drink tons of water!!

I will post back next Friday with my results.  Want to join me?  Do you need your own kick in the pants?  If so, contact me and we'll get you set up!
