30 Days of Les Mills Pump

Thursday, March 14, 2013

*Knock, knock*  Is anyone still here?  I know I’ve been a stranger to the blog, and I could offer up tons of excuses (my parents are living with us, work is a little stressful, my dad is having cognitive and health issues, my grandma had another heart attack, etc, etc), but instead, I’m just going to tell you that I am going to do better.  I will.  But that’s not what I wanted to tell you about.

What I wanted to tell you about was something much, MUCH more fun.

Just because I may have neglected this blog for the last month and a half does NOT mean I have been neglecting my fitness program.  I have been pushing hard with Les Mills Pump for the last 30 days.  Do you think you can’t see a difference in as little as 30 days?  I disagree.  In fact, I have something to show you:

The picture on the left was taken on February 10th in preparation of me beginning Pump on the 11th.  The picture on the right was taken yesterday, March 13 – 30 days after starting Pump.  Crazy, right?  Even crazier, here’s a close-up of my face from February 10th and March 13 (please forgive the pale, colorless skin):

Does it look like the same person?  I was shocked and delighted.  I have to admit, I am so excited to see the results from the entire 90 days of the program.
So what is this program?

Les Mills Pump is the first-ever at-home version of BODYPUMP® — the incredibly popular series of gym classes created by Les Mills International and taught in 80 countries across the world.  The program is designed around weight-training just three days a week but also includes an incredibly touch ab workout as well as a yoga workout.  Cardio is incorporated, but they allow you to choose your own cardio – something that is a huge factor in why I chose this program.  Some days I catch up on Supernatural, Once Upon a Time, or Pretty Little Liars while on the elliptical.  Other days, I return to my first love and go for a run with some heart-pounding music.  There are limitless cardio options.  All that matters is that you move and get that heart rate up!
The other reason I gravitated towards this program?  The longest workout is still just under an hour.  Real results in less than an hour a day?  Yes, please!

What comes in the box?

Everything you see here comes in a Les Mills Pump Challenge pack:  the workout DVDs, a nutrition guide, a padded barbell, 2 5lb weight plates, 2 10lb weight plates, and 30 days’ worth of Shakeology.  I will explain why I now swear by Shakeology in an upcoming post - SOON.  I think I’ve rambled enough today.  I will just leave you with this:
