There is something absolutely magical about summer. The sun just seems to give me tons of energy and motivation! The birds never stop chattering, and my garden is growing. And me? I'm sitting in my little personal haven, organizing my thoughts and taking it all in:
Anyways, those little tumbling exercises made me realize just how much I missed being flexible enough to put my feet behind my head. While I am still extremely flexible for my age (according to the sit and reach and other physical fitness tests), I am not as flexible as I was 15 years ago. And that brings me to something that has just recently caught my heart: PiYo.
Beachbody announced the summer release of PiYo some time ago, but I wasn't really all that interested. Remember my feelings about Pilates in the 21 Day Fix? Yeah, that pretty much sums up how I felt about PiYo. I mean, a low impact combination of nothing but Pilates and Yoga moves? No, thank you! I'm a weights girl, a heart-thumping, sweat-dripping, fitness enthusiast. But then something happened to change my mind... A coach in our team was chosen as a member of the test group. And she *just* finished the program with some amazing things to show for it.
Meet Deidra. She's a fellow nurse and an amazing, elite coach. She is currently training for a fitness competition. And she just finished PiYo.
Now, I don't know about you, but can I just say - HOLY ABS, BATMAN!
But perhaps even more amazing are the positions this lady can hold now. Ready to be impressed? (I know I was blown out of the water!)
So what IS Piyo?
It's a high-intensity, low-impact workout for a new kind of strong. Chalene Johnson took the very best Pilates and yoga-inspired moves and cranked up the speed to provide full-throttle cardio, strength, and flexibility training. PiYo uses body weight to deliver hard-core results. And what are those results? Long, lean muscles; a high, firm booty; and tight, flat, and sexy abs.
But don't just take my word for it. Here's what Deidra has to say:
