I have to let you in on a little secret: I really, really, really, strongly dislike fall. I mean, it acts as the bridge between the end of summer and the beginning of the cold, dark, dismal winter. The days get shorter; the temperatures begin to drop...
Thankfully, though, there are *some* things I love about fall. Things like cuddling by a roaring fireplace, sipping hot apple cider, and comfort foods that touch your heart as they fill your belly. One such favorite food for me is the salted caramel apple.
I have yet to meet a gourmet apple I haven't liked. Gooey, sweet, and just a little tart; gourmet caramel apples are one of my top indulgences! After trying a chocolate-covered, salted caramel apple slice from a friend's fruit basket; I decided I had to recreate the flavor in my favorite shake. Annnd, I've been drinking this concoction TONS over the last couple weeks!
Ingredients:
- 12 oz water
- 1 sweet-tart apple (like Granny Smith or Honey Crisp)
- 2 tsps. caramel extract or sugar-free caramel coffee syrup (both are good!)
- 1 scoop chocolate Shakeology
- coarse sea salt to taste
