Welcome to April! Who's ready for a little spring? I know *I* am here in western Pennsylvania. I keep trying to convince the hubs that south would be better, but so far he's not going for it. I mean, really, if we decided to "try out" living south, what's the worst that could happen?
And that brings me to today's post. (Of course it does, right? haha)
So..... what's the worst that can happen?
I have found myself thinking this question over and over the last several days as I have dealt with people who are more anxious than I am. And yet, I have failed to ask MYSELF the same question in situations where things really matter to ME. Instead, I find myself paralyzed with ideas of not getting something I really want. For example, I have this huge goal of "retiring" from my job by the end of 2019. That is a big, hairy, audacious goal. I have put myself out there and made a commitment. It's time to ask the question.
If I leap into this coaching thing wholeheartedly in full force, what's the worst that could happen?
- I fail. I don't make my goal. I don't retire. I don't leave my job, and I am in the same position that I am in now. How is that different from where I am now?
- No one joins my team, and my team stays the same size. Again, how is that different from where I am now?
- I lose friends and "popularity." C’mon, now. Is this really still an issue? Okay, yes, it really is. Fine. So what? Wouldn't I rather have people who love me for my own brand of crazy as opposed to catering to the popular vote? I mean, if Trump can be successful, then so can I. And who knows? Maybe I’ll find a few people who are my brand of crazy. Social media is powerful, after all!
None of that is really all that bad. It may not be the best, but it is not all that catastrophic.
