Who here likes breakfast sausage? Who here likes chicken sausage? Who here likes apple chicken sausage?
I can emphatically answer yes to all those questions!
What I don't like, however? The nutritional content of a lot of sausages and the price of sausage without questionable content. Guess what I discovered? You can make your own, and it's extremely easy!
Ingredients:
- 1 pound lean ground chicken breast or turkey breast
- 1/2 tsp sage
- 1/2 tsp marjoram
- 3/4 tsp thyme
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- heaping 1/4 tsp alspice
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1 diced Granny Smith apple (and yes, I leave my skins on!)
- 1/2 Tbsp maple syrup
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients until well mixed.
- Shape into 8 patties.
- Cook in skillet - turning once - until meat is cooked through and patties are browned on both sides.
